Dennis E Slater, MD
Dr. Dennis Slater received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York University, Veterans Administration, and Bellevue Hospital, and his fellowship in Medical Oncology, Hematology, and Clinical Immunology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He also was a Research Fellow in Molecular Biology at the Sloan Kettering Institute in 1984 and 1985.
Dr. Slater opened his practice in Medical Oncology and Hematology in December 1985 in Norwich and joined the medical staff at the William W. Backus Hospital that same year. The practice rapidly grew into the Norwich Cancer Center and, presently, ECHO Associates. Dr. Slater served as the first Medical Director of Oncology Services at Backus Hospital in Norwich between 1997 and 2003. He was instrumental in establishing Backus as a comprehensive cancer facility. Dr. Slater also serves on the medical staff at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London and as a consultant in medical oncology at Windham Hospital.
Academic appointments for Dr. Slater include Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center School of Medicine in Farmington and an Affiliate Member, Yale Cancer Center, Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven.
Dr. Slater is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
